For building surveyors and certifiers
A submission you can say yes to.
Performance Solutions are a routine part of the NCC. What you need from us is a clear brief, a sound method, a complete report, and a modeller who answers the phone. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
01We start with you
The brief comes before the model.
Before any compliance modelling, we prepare the performance-based design brief with you: what we compare, which assumptions apply, and what counts as a pass. You see every reference assumption before a result exists. The same structure applies to J1V3 submissions for commercial buildings.
02What we submit
One brief, one report. Nothing hidden.
The performance-based design brief is its own short document, agreed with you before any modelling: the scope, the technical basis for the analysis and the acceptance criteria. Everything else comes in one final report under A2G2(4)(d).
- Modelling methodSoftware and version, ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 140 compliance, climate file, and how each H6V2(3) item is held constant.
- Reference building specificationHow the reference meets Deemed-to-Satisfy Parts 13.2, 13.3 and 13.5, element by element.
- Input comparisonProposed and reference inputs side by side, with every difference identified.
- ResultsAnnual heating and cooling loads for both models, each tested against the reference.
- Sensitivity checksHow the result responds to the assumptions that matter most.
- EvaluationAgainst the acceptance criteria agreed in the brief, with any conditions or limitations.
03Conservative by default
Where the Code is silent, we say so.
Where the Code leaves a reference assumption open, we take the conservative reading, record it in the brief, and ask for your agreement before relying on anything else.
If an input would move the benchmark materially and no source settles it, we tell you, and we recommend the appropriate authority’s agreement before it is relied on.
One technical contact, start to finish. The person who built the model answers your requests for information, and we aim to respond within 24 hours.
04Briefings and method
Briefings for your practice.
Short briefings on H6V2 and the Performance Solution process for surveying practices, private and local government, from the people who do the modelling: NatHERS assessors accredited with Design Matters National, and Green Star Accredited Professionals, our director among them.
Our method, in writing.
Our modelling method and a sample design brief are available to any building surveyor on request, so you can see how we work before a submission reaches your desk.
Surveyors
Ask us anything about a submission.
A question on a brief, a reference assumption, or a model prepared by someone else. We’re glad to help.
